Young Coconut is a precious tropical fruit, in form of a drupe, that is generally used for its delicious water and tender meat. Like the green coconut, it is harvested six to seven months after the coconut flower blooms. In essence, the young coconut is a green coconut with the green skin removed and shaped into a cylindrical husk resembling a diamond. The value of the young coconut is in its highly nutritious, sweet water and its delicate, lush white meat. However, since it is harvested immaturely the young coconut is mostly filled with water and less meat. The water is not to be confused with coconut milk, which is typically found in mature coconuts.
